EMSL Analytical offers stringent testing services for Legionella bacteria

Health officials in Nevadahave reported that Legionella bacteria, which causes Legionnaires’ disease, was found in water samples in the Luxor Hotel-Casino. One man recently died after staying there, and two other guests were sickened by the disease in the spring of last year.The hotel is owned by MGM Resorts International, which immediately began the remediation process after the bacteria was detected. The company is already dealing with a lawsuit from guests who claim that they were infected with Legionnaires’ while staying at the Aria Resort & Casino—which is half-owned by MGM Resorts.Legionnaires’ disease is a very serious form of pneumonia that results in long term health effects or a flu-like illness called Pontiac Fever. Most individuals become infected by inhalingLegionella bacteria in the air; it is not spread from person to person. Contaminated mist or water vapor diffuse the bacteria in hot tubs, cooling towers, faucets, showerheads, and other water systems. A current or previous smoking habit, chronic lung disease, age (usually 50 years or older), and the use of certain rheumatoid arthritis and chemotherapy drugs can increase the risk of contracting Legionnaires’ disease.

Mold or Allergies? The hot days of summer are keeping most of us indoors where we breath air that is being recirculated through filters ( most of which are dirty ) and wonder why we are suffering from summertime colds, flu like symptoms and a myriad of other ailments.

Toxic mold such as aspergillus, stachybotrys ( black mold ) and alternaria are just a few of the toxic mold types that grow in your home and cause mild to severe symptoms in people.

I don't want to just scare you but between these types of living intruders and things like off gassing of chemicals found in almost every item you bring into the home plus pets and outside debris your home is likely making you sick.

Not all of us are as sensitive to these contaminants as other but we likely have someone in the household who is.

What to do....Live with it or find out what is causing the symptoms.

Where to begin.....A visit to an allergist, blood tests, allergy tests and then, viola, you know what you are allergic to.....but is it in your home and if so where?

Arch Infrared Consulting is a full service building science inspection firm that offers a wide range of diagnostics for the home owner and for the commercial building owner and occupants.

We are currently submitting mold evaluations at a higher level than last year due to higher humidity and higher temperatures.

I get asked frequently why I decided to add Equine Thermal Imaging to our services and I thought it might be a good idea to show an article that I read that peaked my interest. The Equine IR team is a association of Equine Certified Thermographers (ECT) across the country ( Arch Infrared Consulting, LLC is also a member) and is at the tip of the spear in offering the newest in Thermal imaging for horses.

Arch Infrared is proud to announce that we are now offeringEquine Thermal Imaging for those who have been looking for the latest in on site diagnosics for you horse (s).

With years of experience in the thermal imaging techniques used in building science diagnostics we decided it was time to venture into a field that has been a favorite of mine sine I was a young boy.

While I don't propose that I am an expert on these wonderful animals I have always wanted to work with them in a meaningful way.

After seeing the program in Las Vegas presented at the INFRAMATION Covention ( the largest international gathering of experts in thermography) I knew I had found a way to take what I know and apply it to the Equine industry.

We are now ready to proceed with what we hope will be the largest and most respected field service program for equine thermal imaging in the Southeast.

We are prepared to travel to you and work with you to take advantage of this technology. We are part of an ever growing comminity of thermographers who have found a way to use their experience and interest in Infrared to the benefit of the Equine Industry.
